Hilton Park’s very own Solheim Cup

On Tuesday 30th July, 30 HP ladies played in their very own Solheim Cup, representing Europe and the USA. The ladies were battling it out to become Solheim Cup Champions. After a wet weekend it was played in brilliant sunshine. How lucky.

The 30 ladies were drawn into 2 teams and ‘selected’ to play Singles, Foursomes and Fourball matches. Team colours were worn and an Enormous European flag adorned one of the trolleys. All the games were very close and were played in great spirit with lots of high fives and cheers. With one more game to come in the score stood at 3 to Europe and 4 to USA – how exciting. A gallery formed at the window when the players were in sight – wondering if the game was finished – no they played right up to the 18th green and the blues sank the last putt to finish the game. Was it a win for the blues to give a halved match – the suspense was amazing.

It was a halved game – meaning a win for the USA – how disappointing for Europe.

At the prize giving, there were small prizes for the individual game winners, medals for the entire USA team – and a trophy for the USA team to be proud of. That very large European flag made an appearance too and tried to steal the show.

A great fun day. The spare entry money not used on prizes etc. will be donated to the Solheim Cup Charity – Action for Children. Approx. £25.
