Fundraising for St Margaret’s Hospice

Cheque presentation to St Margaret’s Hospice at the Ladies Christmas Lunch

  • At the ladies Christmas lunch a presentation was made to St Margaret’s Hospice covering all the fund-raising efforts over the last 6 months. Nearly £7,000 was raised.
  • Fundraising events included Ladies Tri – am, Greenkeepers Revenge, Ladies Evening, Ladies Christmas Lunch and many separate donations were given from members to give rise to the magnificent total.
  • The cheque was presented to Colin Ashwood of St Margaret’s Hospice who was thrilled with the amount raised.
  • Many thanks to all the ladies and gents who have supported the events and contributed to reaching this huge sum. And a big well done to our organisers Audrey Methven & Irene Wright for overseeing this mammoth fundraising effort over the last 6 months.
  • There was also wonderful entertainment from Kirsty Duncan – a young singer who ably performed Christmas songs, songs from Musicals and Opera too.  A real talent.

Ladies Invitation Greensomes 2023

On Wednesday 9th August, we welcomed twenty teams to our annual Members/Guest event on the immaculate Allander course. Great weather helped to produce excellent scores and golf was followed by lunch at the clubhouse where Jamie and Natalie had produced a delicious special menu for the day.

Many thanks to all members and guests taking part, and to the Pro Shop team, our volunteers, and bar, office and catering staff for helping to contribute to another fantastic day of golf and fundraising for St Margaret’s Hospice at Hilton Park.

The winners were Audrey Methven and mum Freda Miller (Balmore) with a score of 68. Sheila Steele and Susan McKenzie (Balfron) came a close second with 69 (bih), and third place went to Loretta Murray and Carol Biggar (Cardross) on 69.

Lindsay McCubbin won the Nearest the Pin competition at the 7th and Gillian Cowell and Jennifer Abernethy (Alloa) were the winners of the Nearest the Pin prize at the 12th.

Ladies Invitation Day 10th August

The annual Ladies Invitation day took place on Wednesday 10 August over the Allander course, with 23 teams competing for the Invitation trophy.

We were blessed with wonderful weather, the course was in perfect condition and the catering and bar staff were on hand to provide much needed refreshment on a great day for golf.

The competition took the form of a Greensomes Strokeplay. Bridie McNaughton and her guest Kathleen Perfect (Balmore) achieved the winning score, narrowly beating Sheila Steele and Susan McKenzie (Balfron). Third prize was won by Susan Ritchie and Marlene Waudby (Dougalston).

Susan McKenzie and Margaret Smillie won the nearest the pin competitions at the 4th and 7th holes respectively.

Susan continued a very successful run when she and Sheila Steele won prizes for achieving 2s at no less than two holes. Audrey Adams and Margaret Grant (Milngavie) also won prizes for scoring a 2.

Congratulations to all successful competitors - photographs of the winners, seen here with the trophy. and runners - up, together with Captain Lindsay McCubbin.
